Slater Horse Training
We love to show off our horses. Some of these are for sale, some aren't. We love them all. To good homes only!!!

If you computer gives you and ActiveX warning, it is because of the YouTube videos embedded in this page.

Blackie is for sale
16h, 1150lbs, trained classical dressage, this horse is a lot of fun. Ok, so I hate the dressage saddle and the britches. But he really does very well, even in a western saddle. This video was taken for an IPHDA V Show. The pattern is geared towards western riding. I tried to keep it mostly dressage, but the pattern doesn't lend itself to that very easily. But you can still see his good fluid movement. Check out Blackie's details.

Fitch is for sale
Fitch is the kind of horse anybody loves to ride. 15h, 1000lbs, quick, athletic, smooth. He spins like a top, changes leads on the fly and, if the conditions are right, he'll even put down a nice slide. He's been rode in the feedyard a lot, and handles cattle like a dream.
My son Nick is riding him in this IPHDA video.
Check out Fitchie's details.

Ottabe is not for sale
Ottabe is my project horse right now. She has been plagued by lameness. First a stone bruise, then she rolled under the fence and bunged herself up, and then the horse shoer made a mistake and we had to turn her out and let her feet grow out for a while. This video was taken in May, and that is the last solid training I got on her. Can't wait for her to finally be good to go again.
This video was taken for an IPHDA V show. Ottabe and me scored a 76 for this ride, by judge Clint Haverty (NRHA hall of famer). More about Ottabe

Shakey deserves a spot here
Shakey has been with us for 10 years. You name it, he can do it. He's the kind of horse that has your back when the going gets tuff. He's 13 now, and we only use him when we absolutely have to. My daughter Hannah (pictured below, in blue, learning how to ride) has a new job at a neighboring feedyard. So she took ole Shakes, so he could show her the ropes.
When he's not on feedyard duty, he teaches lessons for beginning riders.

Then there are Pony, Dually, Tidbit and Butterbean

Pony is awesome. He's been teaching kid lessons since he was a 2 yr old. Keeping folks safe is the name of the game for him. Just big enough to put a medium sized adult on him, he is worth his weight in gold.
But, he is also one heck of an athelete. Hannah won every class she entered at the county fair one year. Shakey had come up lame a week before, and the show managers allowed her to substitute Pony for him.

Dually is another one of those that are worth their weight in gold.
He has mainly been rode at the yard, and he loves his job. Much like Shakey, he's got your back when the going gets tuff. He's an own son of Dual Pep. Turn him loose on a cow, and you'll see what that kind of breeding can do.
He is too funny. The way you have to slowly, easy bring a calf out of the pen is just not enough fun for him. He'll spook them right as they are about to go out the gate, just so that he can cut them for a little while.
There will be some more pics of Dually on the Horse Training page.

Tidbit and Butterbean don't have any pictures up yet. Tidbit is going to get broke next month, and Butterbean won't see her turn till the month after that. Stay tuned, we'll let you know how they do.
